"The
group has been operating since Jan
15 2006 when we started with 6 members.
Since then, we have expanded by more subscription of new members we
share with a vision and target as part of our commitment to work with
socially and economically disadvantage group [women] who want free away
from bondage of culturally defined role of women as home keepers and
child rearing and living the responsibility of fending for home
and
bread winning for the man which responsibility is not being done by
most men.
"Currently we
are a group of 25 women dealing in
hand
crafts that we do sell to make us independent from men putting to meet
our day to day needs and for our families.
"Our Aims are :
"To
fight against the killer disease HIV/AIDS.By Addressing HIV/AIDS
through
awareness and empowerment programmes using drama, audio visual and
electronic media plus school club programmes fucional adult litracy,
poverty eradication, women and orphan emancipation, sanitation,
environment protection and establishing micro-finance projects.
"To encourage the community to
have the spirit of cooperation and self
help.
"To promote the scio-economic
development of the community and Welfare
of the orphans, the elderly and the women.
"To
raise the standards of leaving of the grass roots community from the
current sub-standard to an average standard able to be self-sustaining.
"To initiate an income generating
activities for the urban women,
youth,the elderly , through extensive farming of both livestock
management and crop farming the urban level.
"Integrate health related
information into functional adult literacy
[Fail] programme.
"Integrate the social and
psychological needs of women, youth and the
elderly in the society.
"To build capacity for
self-employment and economic sustenance.
"To engage in small-scale
industries.
"To create an environment for
members and other Ugandans that initiates
encourages and promotes entrepreneurship.
"Some of the
identified needs are :
1-Lack of capability to advertise
and improve sales of our products or
goods
2-Lack or no accessibility to
medication and support for some of
our HIV/AIDS positive and chronically ill members
3-Lack of means of transportation
to move our products to different
market areas.
4-Inadequate information about
markets and customer needs
5-Poor housing, feeding and
appalling state of living for most members
of our group.
"In
order to reduce our member's life vulnerability, increase our
sales,
promote home sanitation and health management, increase accessibility
to medication, care and support and improve our daily living
conditions, we are seeking funds to establish and implement our locally
developed group of Najjanankumbi 11 Group [Najwo]"
