Politics
General
The
political
scene in West Lancs is stagnant.
The present M.P., Rosie Cooper (www.rosiecoopermp.net)
has
shown
no interest in environmental (or other major national or
international) issues.
West Lancs
Labour Party was once vigorous and successful in local and
parliamentary elections. Those days are now over.
The Conservative M.P.-in-waiting, Adrian
Owens (www.adrianowens.com)
has not shown any serious concern about environmental issues.
The Green Party (www.greenparty.org.uk)
has
a
visible
presence but lacks members and energy.
Remarkably, the Liberal Democrats
are noticeable by their absence.
The only green
issues to reach the headlines have been the provision
of allotments, landfill and incineration of waste.
The constituency
is a hard place for activists of any kind. Public
meetings attract no attention. Things are unlikely to change.
