Green Fayre          23 to 24 July

Celebrate West Lancashire’s rural charm and heritage with a weekend packed with free events at Beacon Country Park, Up Holland. The two-day festival, the biggest event in the Rangers’ calendar, showcases wildlife, nature and the traditional countryside activities. The event, on July 23 and 24, will see thousands of visitors watch the many displays, take part in activities and browse the stalls with locally produced crafts and gifts.

Moving Planet is a worldwide rally on 24 September to demand solutions to the climate crisis—a single day to move away from fossil fuels.

Come on bike, on skates, on a board, or just on foot.

For too long, our leaders have denied and delayed, compromised and caved. That era must come to an end: it's time to get moving on the climate crisis.

Come with your neighbours and your friends, your family and your co-workers. Come be part of something huge.

Global Day of Action on Climate Change - 3 December 2011
Plans for demonstrations on climate change, to coincide with the annual United Nations Climate Talks which are taking place this year in Durban, South Africa on November 28th to December 11th 2011.

Synchronised demonstrations around the world on Saturday December 3rd 2011 - in as many places as possible - to call on world leaders to take urgent action on climate change.

The 'Call to Action' for the demonstrations is as follows

“We demand that world leaders take the urgent and resolute action that is needed to prevent the catastrophic destabilisation of global climate, so that the entire world can move as rapidly as possible to a stronger emissions reductions treaty which is both equitable and effective in minimising dangerous climate change.

We demand that the long-industrialised countries that have emitted most greenhouse gases currently in the atmosphere take responsibility for climate change mitigation by immediately reducing their own emissions as well as investing in a clean energy revolution in the developing world. Developed countries must take their fair share of the responsibility to pay for the adaptive measures that have to be taken, especially by low-emitting countries with limited economic resources.

Climate change will hit the poorest first and hardest. All who have the economic means to act, must therefore urgently and decisively do so.”
